Rudy Hayek Honorary Scholarship Program

Program Description

Beginning in 2021, SGV-CAMFT began awarding this scholarship annually. The San Gabriel Valley Chapter of CAMFT will each year present the recipient $1,000 based on qualities of civic engagement, service, and the desire to advance the field of Marriage and Family Therapy.

Applications may be submitted year-round with the deadline of July 1, 2024 for the award granted in this calendar year.

Qualifications:

Pre-licensed individuals currently enrolled in an MFT program and a chapter member in good standing.

This award is in honor of past SGV-CAMFT Board member, Rudy Hayek, whose professionalism and commitment to service positively impacted our chapter and the therapists of the San Gabriel Valley. Awardees will have demonstrated commitment to civic engagement and/or community service in alignment with this spirit.

Procedure for Awarding Scholarship

An Ad Hoc committee of the board of directors of SGV-CAMFT will be created and meet in the month of May each year. A tool to score applicants will be created or reviewed and utilized to sort applicants for eligibility and selection. Any applications received will be reviewed by the committee, a decision will be made, and recommendations for award presentation will be brought to the board in the following board meeting. Announcement of the award and distribution of funds will go out after the board approves the committee’s recommendation.

Funding for Scholarship

Board Approval for $1,000 and a budget line to take donations for the scholarship program.

Depending on available funds, SGV-CAMFT Scholarship committee may choose the option of awarding more than one award per year.
