About SGV-CAMFT

San Gabriel Valley CAMFT was incorporated on December 22, 1999, as a local chapter of the larger nonprofit 501(c) organization of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). To join the local chapter of SGV-CAMFT, you must also be a member of the state organization.

Why join the local SGV-CAMFT chapter and not just CAMFT?

CAMFT and SGV-CAMFT work in partnership to enhance the profession of marriage and family therapists of its members. While a CAMFT membership provides statewide benefits and resources like legal team consultations, malpractice and student liability insurance, and opportunities for networking, joining SGV-CAMFT offers a more intimate and community-focused experience.

At SGV-CAMFT, we are dedicated to supporting the professional growth, connection, and sense of belonging of our members within the San Gabriel Valley. For example, SGV-CAMFT provides targeted professional development opportunities relevant to the San Gabriel Valley. When you become a member of SGV-CAMFT, your visibility and referrals through local directories and networks is increased. There are also offerings of mentorship and support from colleagues, and opportunities for local advocacy and leadership development for members. To learn more about leadership opportunities on the SGV-CAMFT board, or to propose a special interest group for members in the SGV-CAMFT community, please contact info@sgvcamft.org.

Who are the members of SGV-CAMFT?

Pre-licensed members are associate marriage and family therapists or students enrolled in an MFT program. Members of SGV-CAMFT may also include related licensed or pre-licensed professionals in good standing (Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), psychologists, psychiatrists, and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs), etc). who abide by the CAMFT ethical and legal standards for MFTs.
