Friends or Foes?"


Jan Marc Stolpe, M.A., MFT Intern, will present an illuminating workshop on the many facets of our MFT work in this evolving age of technology. Jan educates clinicians, teachers and families on how to realistically build healthy human connections in this digital age. Presentation will focus on these areas:

  • Practical considerations regarding Facebook, Twitter and other social networking.
  • Technological vulnerabilities of mobile phones & tablets, privacy settings, etc. digital identity
  • Websites & useful apps
  • Clinical implications of technology in: billing, recording keeping, publicity, marketing
  • Responsibility to seek clients, Googling clients and our digital identity.
  • Benefits and problems of connection to technology over the life cycle
  • Therapeutic potential of technology & relational considerations.

Workshop is free to those who join the Chapter between 9/21/14 and 10/15/14. Payment is due at the time of registration which is open until Oct. 15th. Please note cancellations requesting a refund will be honored up until 3 days prior to the event.

Speaker's Bio:

Jan Marc Stolpe, MA, MFT Intern (Supervised by Lorraine Rose, Ph.D. Lic.# Psy 12803) works with fathers, individual adults and high school adolescents, and is particularly interested in working with individuals and couples in the entertainment industry as well as with couples and fathers around perinatal matters including preparation and maintenance of the parental relationship before, during and after the childʼs arrival. 


Additionally, as a father, clinician and gadgeteer he is passionate about educating clinicians, teachers and families on how to build healthy and connected families realistically in the digital age. He also offers lectures on how technology affects us during adulthood and childhood, and works with adults and adolescents with digital addictions (gaming, electronic devices, etc.), utilizing multiple clinical perspectives to conceptualize a client’s connection to the digital domain.
